Reviews from two major newspapers in the area, The Baltimore Sun and Washington Post, discussed Sunday night's marvelous Arcade Fire show. While the former rightfully praised the concert, the latter quickly dismissed it by saying "the songs weren't very memorable, and Butler's vocals were murky and often unintelligible." Hata please. The way this piece was written could be compared to Cheney composing a synopsis of Fahrenheit 9/11 while on 2 tabs of Prozac. No love whatsoever from the critic, though apparently she loved Bright Eyes' set. Makes sense right? Didn't think so.
Speaking of the band, they will be on Conan O'Brien tonight! TUL speculates as to what song the band will actually perform on the show, though I have a hunch it could be "Neighborhood #2 (Laika)." Just be sure to Tivo that shit since it is their network television debut and all.
Oh man, DCist totally out-scooped me with Interpol coming back in March. You win this round ?ist conglomerate! I'm still debating whether to buy tickets or not. I attended their show at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC a few months ago, and although they sounded great, I just didn't get that feeling that made it special to see them live. Their stage presence was practically non-existent. On the other hand, 9:30 is a much more intimate venue and that always makes for a more enjoyable experience, so we shall see.
Well since this is The Upstate Life, we haven't made much mention of Chipotle lately. Well you can all take a deep breath and relax as TUL found out today the restaurant is having another one of their renowned free burrito promotions. If you purchase a Chipotle gift card with at least $5 on it between 1/31 and 2/11, you can keep your receipt and redeem it for a free burrito on 2/12-2/14. I'm so there. Just be sure to ignore how "nutritious" it is and all.
