Why, Lonny, Why?
It breaks my heart to read something like this happen to (what I thought was) a standup guy like Lonny Baxter. Lonny was an overachiever at Maryland and helped lead the Terps to back-to-back Final Fours and their first-ever NCAA Championship. He started out as an overlooked, pudgy recruit who turned himself into one of Maryland's best centers of all-time, so reading this story is not only surprising but also downright disappointing. The Upstate Life hopes that this is one of those wrong place, wrong time scenarios, but regardless, we really want to know what in the hell he was doing driving around DC with a loaded handgun in his car to begin with. Just doesn't make a lick of sense.
