For the first since 2003, the Maryland Terrapins are bowl-eligible. I was at Saturday night's game and it was, without a doubt, one of the best (and coldest) games I've witnessed inside Byrd Stadium. I loved the fact that not only was this game nationally televised, but that it also had a scheduled kickoff for 7pm. Night games are truly one of the best atmospheres for college football and a great advantage for the home team. They're also a tailgater's best friend as opposed to the dreaded noon gametime start (I'm not particularly the biggest fan of cracking open a beer at 10am). The student section one-upped their performance from last year's blackout against Virginia Tech and was louder and more supportive than they were compared to the last four home games combined. While Florida State hasn't been the dominant force it's been this year since they joined the ACC, they're still Florida State and the fact we were able to beat them at home is still a huge victory for this rapidly improving team. There's still a lot more work to be done, particularly on the defensive side of things (that last FSU drive was painful to watch), but this is a completely different set of players than the ones we saw whom barely squeaked out a game against FIU. This weekend's contest at Top 25 ranked Clemson will be a true barometer of how far the Terps have progressed, but at 6-2, they've already surpassed many people's expectations.
