TUL's Take: My Morning Jacket @ 9:30 Club

Last night was The Upstate Life's first time seeing My Morning Jacket live and we were not disappointed. While we regretfully missed their performance at Lollpalooza this summer, the intimate surroundings of the 9:30 Club more than made up for it. Starting things off with "One Big Holiday" behind a silouteete curtain (which was instantly pulled down after the first guitar riff), the band ripped through songs that were mostly culled from Z and It Still Moves. Though MMJ got a little jammy at times, they managed to keep the energy alive with their tight musicianship. Jim James' voice was amazing and I was nearly blown away on how he was able to hit all those notes during the hour and a half long set. Overall, it was a solid show and would definitely catch them next time they roll through town. Setlist (not definite) via the MMJ Forum:

One Big Holiday
What A Wonderful Man
The Way That He Sings
Gideon
Off The Record
Just One Thing
Wordless Chorus
Phone Went West
Lay Low
The Dark
Dondante
Run Thru
They Ran
