Virgin FreeFest Date AND First Artist Revealed?
So I couldn't help but notice that when Pitchfork posted Erykah Badu's tour dates yesterday that something seemed rather peculiar: 08-07 Columbia, MD – TBA Of course, we all know that the unnamed venue has to be Merriweather Post Pavilion. But the more important question is why Badu is returning to the area when she's headlining her own show at Constitution Hall just a few months prior? Perhaps it's because she's also a part of the revived Lilith Fair and they're making a stop at Merriweather that Saturday? WRONG. They'll be in Nashville that day. But wait, the very next day, Badu travels to Chicago to perform at Lollapalooza. Perhaps she's working some festival dates that weekend? As we all know, the Virgin FreeFest will be returning to Merriweather this summer, though we haven't heard a peep as to when it will be held or who will be performing. Badu's stop in Columbia might be the very first piece of the puzzle. Or it could just be a standalone date, but that's dubious given the DAR show in May. Something is afoot here, folks. Stay tuned.
