"It Would Appear He Has Broken It"

Props to The Diner for saying everything The Upstate Life wanted to about Animal Collective's overrated Sung Tongs album but just couldn't pull off (TUL would swiftly lose in a vernacular battle between these guys). Buddyhead ain't got nothing on this shit:

Richly inane music for trust-fund twats who like to dress poor and pretend they're the only authentic people that ever strode terra firma. The members of this band should be hunted for sport.

Pure genius ladies and gentlemen.

So it's been less than 24 hours and The Upstate Life has already broken its blood-smeared oath to not discuss The Arcade Fire for the rest of the week. Unfortunately, it appears that I've somehow converted and must follow them to the righteous path of indie stardom. The first step in that journey occurred last night when the band appeared on Conan. And that's right, TUL and his all-knowingness called it when they performed an amazing rendition of "Laika." I really don't want to talk about the Terps loss to last place Clemson last night. TUL really doesn't understand the erraticism of this team. How does one go about defeating the then-#2 ranked team in the nation (Duke), and then beating another former Top 25er (Georgia Tech) all within one week, then suddenly lose to a squad that hasn't won a matchup against Maryland in nearly seven years? Unbelievable.

I had a chance to listen to Hot Hot Heat's new single "Goodnight Goodnight" thanks to Seeking Irony and TUL def likes what he hears. Can't wait for their show in March.

Also, The Upstate Life has just learned that Interpol's two dates at the 9:30 Club (3/25 and 3/26) go on sale to the public at the box office this Saturday at 10am. Carlos D told me himself. Well, not really.
